One woman’s Master Vision to health & wellbeing

As the creator of The Truth Matters Institute of Health, Ann Knox has brought together many innovators in the field of health and wellness.

Till now she has always stayed in the background, shying away from telling her own story. Now, with the international launch of new conferences, health programs and a book, it is time for Ann to share her journey.

Like others in these turbulent times, Ann has lost much of what she used to think of as essential to her wellbeing, and even to her identity. In recent years her health, material wealth and some of her closest relationships have been stripped away, leaving her wondering: ‘Without possessions, health and the ideas I had of myself and the people who helped define me, who am I really?’ In the face of what some would regard as devastating loss, the asking of that question brought Ann to where she is now: enjoying all that life has to offer and helping guide others to total health and wellbeing through unique conferences and programmes.

In March 2008, Ann received her first diagnosis of a breast tumor. Her instinct told her to step away from the conventional allopathic treatments routinely offered to cancer patients.  Qualifing as a  raw food nutritionist, she already knew about the intimate relationship between diet and health, and she knew that her body could respond well to natural methods of detoxing, cleansing and replenishing.

Ann visited a reflexologist every week to maintain intimate connections with her body. She learned to let go of her attachments to death and dying and what it might mean to have cancer – whether it manifested as cancerous growths in her body or as cancerous thought patterns. On her road to recovery, she began to read more about natural methods of healing and gained a deeper understanding of the body’s own innate wisdom and processes of self-preservation.

From Andreas Moritz (Cancer Is Not A Disease – It’s A Survival Mechanism), she learned that cancer is not the cause, but a sign, of disease ; that the dis-ease is of the person and not of the body, and that the body has the wisdom and the drive to protect the person by producing so-called ‘malignant’ growths. Moritz’ book showed Ann that her cancer had a purpose and that, rather than destroying it and damaging her body in the process, she could allow it to be there, listen to its lessons, and let it dissolve naturally when its purpose had been served.

From Michele Longo O’Donnell (Of Monkeys and Dragons; The God That We’ve Created; When the Wolf is at the Door) she learned that cancer is the result of attachments to darkness, suffering and death, and that these attachments are human constructs with no independent existence. Rather than aggressively attacking her symptoms, she gained insights into what had caused the cancer to manifest in her body: the holding on to the cancer of toxic experiences, relationships and life events that needed to be released.

Her action to support the healing of her body – also following the Gerson protocols of juices, enemas, cleansing and replenishing combined with heartfelt prayer – had led Ann to an intimate understanding of the connections between mind, body and spirit. Along with the physical cleansing came the peeling away of mind chatter and toxic emotions and the direct experience of her true self.

Ann will tell you she is now living with cancer. To her the word holds no fear. She believes that it is fear of cancer, not cancer itself that causes dis-ease and ultimately death of the body. She has come to a profound acceptance of and gratitude for the body’s wonderful ability to reflect what she needs, and for her ability to listen to its signals and learn how to truly nurture herself. Her direct experience led to the creation of  The Truth Matters Institute of Health, which, since it began in 2009, has touched the lives of many people and supported them on their paths to true wellbeing.

The Truth Matters conferences provide expert and testimonial talks on all aspects of health, recognising that wellness is not just about absence of physical illness, but about the whole person – physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. They have demonstrated Ann’s remarkable ability to attract professionals at the cutting edge of holistic healthcare. Yet for her, these conferences were only the start. Rather than just informing people through speaker events, she decided to create The Truth To Health programme and book. Practical workshops, private consultations and a highly informative collection of expert writers on health and wellbeing are translating the available information to our daily lives.

Her newest creation is the Awakening the ‘I AM’ events, which will be launched in March 2012. These conferences will complete the creation of what Ann has named the ‘Master Vision’ to health and wellbeing. They will be the first to bridge the gap between spiritual self-enquiry and the down-to-earth practice of daily life. Awakened spiritual teachers will facilitate ‘satsang’, an explorative dialogue which gently strips away everything that obscures our true being. Innovative teachers of personal and spiritual growth then present easy and practical methods of self-enquiry that can incorporate the experiences and realisation of satsang into day-to-day life.

Awakening the ‘I AM’ will form yet another platform for people to open the doors to true health and wellbeing. It’s one of Ann’s many dreams coming true since her ‘wake-up call’ four years ago. She now understands that following your heart’s desires and being in touch with your true self are powerful recipes for a vibrant, fulfilling and healthy life. And she is ready to share it, through a Master Vision whose dimension and scope still seems to catch her by surprise every day.

Releasing physical, mental and habitual toxins allowed Ann to nurture and develop connections with people whose own journeys had led them to understanding and awareness of the true self, and whose teachings have been instrumental in the healing of others. She would like to acknowledge some of those with whom she has shared deep soul connections and who have supported her on her path:

Arnold Timmerman, Ann’s mentor and friend. He supported her through the dying of the old ‘me’ that she had created and the blossoming of her understanding of ‘I AM’. The process is a joyful one and can be intense, releasing stored emotions that are often challenging. Arnold was always there, waiting and allowing her to experience the transformation when things got tough.

Cathie Grout, whose book ‘Rabbits Don’t Get Lymphoma’ tells the story of her own remarkable journey back from cancer, and who inspired many at the first Truth Matters event in 2010, was there for Ann in love, beauty and knowing.

Her beautiful child Ellie has walked this most magnificent path with her, sometimes fearful but facing fear with courage and loving with the simplicity and honesty of a child’s heart.

One woman’s Master Vision to health & wellbeing

Dean Rees-Evans writes on his blog at www.threeprinciplestraining.com that after his first encounter with the Three Principles, he felt so euphoric that he burst into laughter while washing the dishes and he couldn’t stop.

When you speak to Dean, it’s clear that he hasn’t really ever stopped laughing. There’s a lightness about his speech and a joyful sort of chuckle just below the surface of his words that’s barely concealed. It’s very infectious, and that’s exactly Dean’s intention – to infect us all with happiness through a simple shift in perspective.

Dean explains that the Three Principles of mind, consciousness and thought are the bedrock of our wellbeing. Once we grasp that and see beyond them, all of the methods we humans have devised to ‘fix’ our psychological and emotional issues become redundant. Rather than feeling the need to use techniques to address isolated issues, we can simply reframe our thinking and find the source of all happiness.

The Three Principles were discovered by Syd Banks, a Scottish immigrant to Canada nearly forty years ago. They represent a monumental shift from technical solutions to unhappiness, which Dean likens to sticking plasters, to the missing link that all of humanity is looking for. In Dean’s experience, the approach has enabled people from all cultural backgrounds to see the true meaning of their religious teachings more clearly. As a Buddhist of fourteen years’ standing at the time when he discovered it, he himself was able to grasp the truth of Buddha Siddhartha’s proclamation that ‘it is the mind that creates this world’.

And that applies to all of us. Every one of us creates reality in exactly the same way, and every one of us has the power to change it. Dean sees our time as a pivotal moment in history, and the Three Principles as an opportunity to remove mind-created suffering and make the world a better place. His own research (his MSc dissertation can be viewed on his website) shows that it takes only 15 – 20% of a community to hear about this beautifully simple idea for the whole community to make the shift that will change the reality for everyone. The ripple effect is that powerful.

Dean’s study has demonstrated the astounding effect of the Three Principles, but more compelling for him is his direct experience of working with many groups and individuals. He’s held workshops, retreats and events throughout the world and has seen the effects first hand. Just one instance he told me about concerned a troubled teen in Australia who, when he learned about the Three Principles, began to experience a profound contentment. He also found that he’d suddenly become very popular: his classmates were competing to sit near him because, although they couldn’t quite explain why, they loved how they felt when they were around him.

That young man had shifted from fear to love almost instantly, and his is only one of many stories of that love emanating from individuals and affecting everyone around them. Dean believes that this could be the future of the whole world; that through the Three Principles we can finally dissipate all suffering and return to the joy that we were always meant to have.

Who doesn’t want that? Dean does, and that’s why he’s delighted and excited to be part of The Truth Matters. He wants as many people as possible to know about the Three Principles so that the shift can come and so that we can live in the blissful state that he clearly enjoys every day.
